This post is all about beginner guitar lessons and whether or not you'll need to have any. At the start you'll have to study the basics - from the beginning, learning the notes, strings and how to play chords.

This is the way all the greatest players began their learning curve. You can be sure that the finest violinist didn't just suddenly discover they had an unbelievable talent, sure they probably had a little skill in that department, but it won't have been truly improved and refined until taught by someone else.

What's more likely to happen is that there was an interest there already and perhaps a little raw ability and what then followed was tuition (either a lot or a little) and a hell of a lot of practice.

However you choose to think about it, you must start somewhere. And the article on the next page gives you some very good ideas for how to start your playing career - beginner guitar lessons

If you've ever seen guitarists from your favourite bands pumping out electrying sounds from their instruments, you may have found yourself thinking - 'Oh my god how could I do that'

But it's actually quite simple to learn electric guitar. Now these experts may well have had a small talent to begin with or an ear for a tune or melody, but this isn't necessarily the case. If you're planning on writing your own songs, then yes you'll certainly need to have the ability to make music.

But if your goal is to simply play in a band doing cover versions etc, then the electric guitar is well within your grasp.

It all boils down to one thing... Practice and more practice.

Even the best guitar players such as Jimi Hendrix practiced for four hours per day! Of course, you don’t have to imitate that if you don’t have that much amount of time to practice.

The point is that you'll only learn electric guitar if you practice regularly. Make it every day, even if it means spending as little as ten or 15 minutes per day.

Guitar songs for beginners should be nothing more than the bare bones of what the music sound really sound like. The tunes you practice will likely only involve a few chords very much like the ones used by Rock groups like Status Quo Etc, but nevertheless you'll be playing the tunes.

The key point here is the repetition of the same basic chords and notes to reinforce in the players mind exactly how to play them. Practice is the key here, but it's far better to learn some really good and enjoyable guitar songs for beginners than to sit through hours of mind numbing chord practice.

Everybody wants to make their Guitar sing out their favourite songs, but patience and practice is what will get you there in the end... nothing else.

Learning the basics of guitar, be that electric or acoustic is the very foundation of everything else you'll do regarding playing one.

Sure you'll learn a lot once you get started, but it's also important that you do some research now. For example you may find that it is just too expensive for you to do right now or that you can't spare the time needed to practice.

In both cases you'll be glad of looking in to things more carefully instead of rushing out in a spur of the moment decision.
